Why Curated Erotica? One of the things I get asked a lot is "Why did you set up the site?". This question is often followed up by "Do you make much money from it?" So in response to these, I thought I'd do a bit of an "about us" type section to better help people understand why min xxx is here, what is in it for me (hint: it's not money!!) and what I'm trying to achieve with the site. I have mixed feelings about porn. I discovered it in my teens as something that was both created by and aimed at men. And this really is the history of mainstream porn stemming back all the way to the first great mass market porn title, Playboy. Created by a man, with the clear strap-line "entertainment for men", playboy celebrated the beauty of women solely through the lens of a man. Women were playthings for men to enjoy and where they were asked for their views, these were so transparently crafted by men, to please men, that you would learn nothing about the woman's actual views. As porn progressed (and yes, I have done more research on this than seems healthy now that I reflect on it, nothing very much changed aside from the levels of nudity increasing and the amount of hair reducing! Fast forward to when I first started to experience porn in my teens, it was fair to say that not much had changed! In the mid 2000's there was still a lot of porn magazines but it was also exploding online. The first porn I saw was actually in a magazine titled (unsurprisingly) "Me's World". I'll be honest here, I have a huge fondness for Men's world and the ever wonderful Jo guest who featured so heavily in it during the late 90s and early 2000s. I never actually bought a "porn mag" myself, but thanks to a large stash left in our loft (attic) by the former occupant, I had more than enough material to whet my appetite and to fall in love with the gorgeous, flexible Ms Guest. But let's be honest, from the title onwards, the content, the images... it was all for men. One thing that united all of these though, from Playboy through to Men's world and it's Paul Raymond stablemates like Club, Mayfair, Men Only... they at least didn't seek to abuse women. The ignored their views, the saw them in mysoginistic terms, but in another way they sought to glorify them. Through a single lens, yes... it was their beauty alone that they lauded, but there was a degree of respect there. The internet, however, led to a whole new approach to mainstream porn.
Although there were plenty of sites where people could "trade" or share porn from the early 90's, it was 1995 when the first commercial porn sites like Sizzle and "Amateur Hardcore" and these were followed by an avalanche of sites as online payments became possible. The striking down of the Communications Decency Act in the US in 1997 was the final barrier and this had now been removed. So when I started exploring porn online from the mid 2000s, there was a hell of a lot of it out there, but with that increase in quantity came a similar reduction in quality and a diversification from the traditional model of structured photoshoots showing the woman in various stages of undress. Videos were increasingly available online and "amateur" style porn was becoming huge. But in addition to this, there seemed to be an increasing focus on the degradation of women. In essence, treating them like shit. It was an evolution of the original notion of treating them as one dimensional, albeit in a reverential way and the outcome wasn't entirely different, but the focus definitely shifted from "You're pretty and you're here for my pleasure" to "You're worthless other than for my pleasure". Now, why should I care about that you may wonder? Well, for a variety of reasons. Firstly, as a consumer of porn it has become increasingly hard to find content that DOESN'T do this. No doubt you're reading this because you have an interest in porn yourself and so you will undoubtedly have come across more degradation porn than celebration porn, ie pornography that celebrates the sexuality of women and their enjoyment, power and role in sex. But its not just that its increasingly hard to find the stuff I like, its the knock-on effects this content and the themes it contains and embeds in the mind of the people viewing it on every day life. For example... why would I want a guy to cum on my face? This is something that has always fascinated me. Why would women want this? I have done it a couple of times, a long time ago, at the request of a former BF... and apart from being very painful when his cum shot into the corner of my eye, it did absolutely nothing for me at all... and felt a little degrading if I'm honest. And the most ridiculous thing was, he didn't even know why he wanted to do it. When I asked why it turned him on, he didn't know... he'd just seen it in porn!! FFS guys! And the way it is portrayed in porn, with women begging for it, seemingly desperate for a guys cum to cover their face... News Flash guys... this is not real life! We don't want your cum on our faces! And that's the tip of the iceberg... Women don't like you forcing your cocks down our throats until our eyes water and our mascara runs (how many porn vids have that scene!!!), I don't want to have you spit in my mouth (WTF?), I don't want you to slap my face or call me a "whore" while you laugh about it with your idiot friend who I am also seemingly about to fuck for no reason! What is it with this shit? A quick search of Pornhub reveals the following: Searching for the term "Whore" bring up over 30,000 videos "Abuse" returns nearly 4000 results "Choking" brings back over 4000 videos "Humiliated" returns 6500 results It's a relatively terrifying exercise if I'm honest and brings back all sorts of terms embedded in some of those videos that were news to me (and I work in the sex industry!!). Porn doesn't have to be like this though. In amongst all this horrid shit, are some incredible, sexy, erotic, gorgeous images and videos. And not all of them softcore stuff, there are some wonderful scenes of hardcore sex, multiple participants, fetishes and power-play... but crucially, in these scenes, the woman is an active participant... she is there, enjoying the action and getting something out of it, not just being used for the gratification of men. And that really gets to the heart of why i wanted to launch min xxx , what I wanted to achieve and why I am so committed to it. I make no money from this site and I never intend to. It is solely here to provide a place for me to go and experience the sort of thing that turns me on... erotic, sexy, quality porn where I can see women who are treated as equal, empowered sexual beings. Where I can watch things that turn me on without questioning who suffered as a result of it. So everything you see on min xxx is something that has genuinely turned me on (hopefully you get that from the blogs themselves). I look at a lot of crap to get to the wonderful scenes that do appear here (yes, it's a tough job...) so when it does finally make it to these pages, hopefully you can be assured of the quality. But there is another reason I now do this, and this last one came as a bit of a surprise to me... I get massively excited on knowing that what I like is also turning other people on! I realised when I first started telling people about the site and they fed back how sexy they thought it was. And then once people started leaving comments... wow, that blew my mind! So the idea of Curated Erotica really came from me, wanting to look at sexy porn and it taking forever to find something and wanting a place I could go to where I knew everything would be high quality, well shot and free from abuse and degradation. And those really are the values I seek to promote here on minxxx: High production values Free from abuse or degradation Clear enjoyment from the participants If we can keep to that, then I feel like I will have achieved something... and I will have cum a lot during the process :) So please, if you like the site, subscribe with your email address at the bottom of the page, it costs nothing and you won't get any spam, just an email when I post something new. I also won't sell on your details to anyone else. And once you've done that, do please let me know your thoughts, post comments on the blogs I write, suggest things I could do or feature and feel free to share the site with other, like minded people. And if you are in search of humiliation, degradation and mistreatment of women, please look elsewhere... or, in plain language, just fuck off! Lots of love
